Mick was an assistant director on a production of Sleeping Beauty at the Children's Playhouse in Fresno, California. James was a part of the cast, playing the role of Prince Charming. Mick encouraged James to audition for the performing arts program at Roosevelt. James was adopted. His mom passed away when he was age 15. His dad passed away the Tuesday before September 11, 2001. He has a relationship with his biological mother, as well as her son and daughter.
